Audi Sport just officially pulled the cover off the all-new RS 5, and it’s a massive departure from everything we knew. This isn’t just a facelift; it’s the first-ever plug-in hybrid from the RS division. By pairing a 2.9L twin-turbo V6 with a 400V electric motor, Audi has cranked the output to a staggering 630 hp and 608 lb-ft of torque. That gets you to 60 mph in a blistering 3.6 seconds, with a top speed that can hit 177 mph if you tick the right boxes.
The addition of a 25.9 kWh battery isn’t just for the power boost, either. You get up to 57 miles of all-electric range, meaning you can handle your daily commute in Anaheim without ever waking up the V6. It’s also the first quattro system to feature Dynamic Torque Control, a rear-biased setup that makes the car feel more agile despite the extra hybrid weight. Visually, it’s broader and meaner, sitting on exclusive 21-inch twin-spoke wheels available in matte Neodymium gray or metallic black.
Inside, the cabin is a mix of high-tech and high-comfort. You’ve got the signature RS sport seats with honeycomb quilting, and for the first time, a completely leather-free interior option using recycled Cascade cloth. While Europe is getting it first this spring (starting at around €106,000), we’re still waiting on the official US release date. If you’re looking for a daily driver that can transition from silent electric cruiser to mountain-carving beast at the touch of a button, your wait is almost over.
