Good news for iPhone owners who live in Google Photos: your go-to photo app just got a significant redesign. After adding some sweet AI editing tools last month, Google is now rolling out a visual overhaul and some smart new features – and surprisingly, iPhone users are getting it first.
The redesign focuses on making the main “Photos” view simpler and more intuitive. You’ll now get a brand-new light mode that matches your iPhone’s theme, and crucial details like when and where a photo was taken are now “glanceable” right at the top of each image. Below that, new “badges” let you quickly play Live Photos, change categories, or save shared pics. Plus, a consolidated three-dot menu in the top-right corner now houses all your key actions, from Google Lens to downloading.

Google says the update is live for iPhones, with Android coming soon. If you’re not seeing the changes yet, a quick manual update through the App Store should do the trick. Get ready for a cleaner, smarter way to browse your memories.
