No longer will there be any wondering or guessing how much juice your timepiece has left — just a quick glance through the back and you’re good to go.
Without the weighted rotor of a self-winding watch, swatching to hand-winding allows watches like this one to be thinner. Adding to that is the blue dial with red-tipped pointer hand that make it stand out. The added subdial or “small seconds” at 6 o’clock adds to this simple yet sophisticated piece, and reinforces the classic military watch style.
The Oris Big Crown Calibre 473 has plenty going for it — a 38-millimeter stainless steel case, screw-in crown for reliable 50 meters of water resistance, and detachable brown leather strap from Swiss leather maker Cero Volante. At $4,400 the Calibre 473 is certainly a luxurious must-have.
