For over a decade, iPad users have been waiting for an official Instagram app that takes advantage of the larger screen. The wait is finally over. Instagram has officially launched a version designed specifically for the iPad.
This new app isn’t just a stretched-out version of the phone app. It’s been tweaked to take full advantage of the added screen real estate, with standard features like Reels, Stories, and DMs all optimized for the new format. It also includes a new “Following” tab that gives you more control over your feed, letting you switch between seeing posts from everyone you follow or a chronological view.
The Instagram for iPad app is available now as a free download for devices running iPadOS 15.1 and later. It’s a long overdue and welcome update for anyone who prefers to scroll on a larger screen.
